Ok, so my awesome friend Nikki was wanting to get rid of her GameCube so she sent it to us. Sebastian was playing it yesterday and he came to a part where there was a bridge with a little guard on it. He got past the guard and said "Hey, mom! That guard let me on the bridge because I sweet talked him!". Teehee!! On the same game, he was in a cave and there was a cave drawing of the lead character, Zelda, and a dinosaur. There were no words or anything, but Sebastian said "Mom, it says 'I must fight the mighty dinosaur'". Hahahaha!!! The way he gets so specific sometimes just cracks me up!
Also, Justin misplaces things all the time. Invariably, he blames one of us for taking whatever thing it is and putting it somewhere else, when, in reality, he's usually taken it and put it somewhere else. So, he'll walk around looking for it, getting progressively more annoyed and saying repeatedly "How does a _____________ just walk off?!!!!". And the longer it takes him to find the thing, whatever it is, the louder he says that phrase. Funnily enough, it's usually either something that none of us has any use for (his glasses, his belt, one shoe, etc.) or something that none of us will touch under threat of death (his wallet, his iPod, his Xbox controller, etc.). Anyway, Sebastian had stashed the wireless controller to the GameCube in his room so Dorian couldn't mess with it and then this morning, he couldn't remember where he put it. So, he just walked around in a loop from the living room to his room about 15 times, saying repeatedly "It couldn't just walk off!!!!". Heeehee!!! He kills me!
Anyway, I finished the Naruto headband! Here it is! Keep in mind that it was really hard to get a decent picture of it. Mostly because the flash kept making a glare, so I turned the flash off, which makes the picture all blurry, but you can see the symbol better that way.
Here it is next to the $25 one.
And sure, it's not nearly as awesome, but considering that the one I made cost $0, it's pretty awesome.
Here's a better shot of the symbol:
So, I kind of loosely followed the instructable. Basically, I just followed the part of the directions for the can. I didn't use the template on there because I used the headband Sebastian already had as a template. I cut the shape a little bigger all the way around and then rolled the edges under so Sebastian might avoid killing himself with any sharp edges. Also, I didn't use brads for the circles on the sides, I used a hole puncher to cut little circles out of the rest of the can and I glued the circles down with super glue. I used an old pair of maternity jeans and super glued the silver part to the jean fabric and then cut the jean fabric to size. Then, I cut the band out of the top of the maternity jeans and used that as the headband part. it was the perfect length and width, and since it was already in a tube shape, all I had to sew were the ends. Awesome! We had some industrial stick on velcro, so I just used that to attach the metal plate to the headband. For the symbol, I traced the symbol onto my template for the metal plate and then used one of my bamboo knitting needles to kind of "emboss" it on there. Then, it wasn't really dark enough so I used a sharpie to fill it in. That was too dark, so I used some scissors and kind of scraped away a good bit of the sharpie, then used a paintbrush dipped in alcohol to smooth the sharpie back together, but a much lighter shade than the original black. So, anyway, I think it turned out pretty good for costing absolutely no money!

I'm jealous at how busy you are! I need to get on the ball. Good job on yesterday's meals. I'm with Justin there is a conspiracy to deprive me of my scissors, pens, flip flops with the hole on the bottom and more...
